Calendar sync defined
Let's start by differentiating between calendar sharing and syncing.
When you share your Google, Outlook, and iCloud calendars with each other, only you can see the events. When you sync your calendars, We copy the events over in real-time so that people see your true availability. Multical prevents double books so scheduling conflicts become a thing of the past!
One way vs two-way sync
With a one-way sync, Calendar A gets updated whenever an event is added to Calendar B.
With a two-way sync, Calendar A gets updated whenever an event is added to Calendar B, and Calendar B gets updated whenever an event is added to Calendar A.
